ThinkNow Research Releases Findings from Hispanic Mobile Banking Trends Study

March 5, 2013, BURBANK, CA – ThinkNow Research, one of the nation’s leading Hispanic market research firms, today released their findings from, “Hispanic Mobile Banking Trends: Mobile Banking Usage on Tablets & Smartphones,”  a study that identifies key mobile banking trends and usage traits among Hispanics in the U.S.

Conducted in concert with Zpryme, the findings show that 69% of Hispanics use their smart phone to do mobile banking while 47% use their tablet to conduct mobile banking. Additionally, younger Hispanics and those with higher incomes were more likely to use mobile banking. The main mobile activities being performed were listed as checking balances, viewing transactions, transferring money, and paying bills.

“One of the key findings of our research is that mobile banking services are highly valued by Hispanics,” stated Mario X. Carrasco, Director of Online Research at ThinkNow Research. “Almost 30% of respondents stated they would in fact switch from their current bank for a bank that offered mobile banking services, and this presents a large opportunity for financial institutions that want to go after this market.”

In addition, the study revealed several recommendations for banks that would increase the usage of mobile banking by Hispanics, including conducting a comprehensive risk assessment of the bank’s mobile banking product, incorporating social networking sites to address banking issues and making sure that both Spanish and English versions of the mobile banking sites provide a positive and rewarding experience.
